Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority to Organize National Lok Adalat on March 12
A National Lok Adalat will be held in all courts in the state of Himachal Pradesh on March 12, 2022.
The press release issued by Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority declares that for settlement before National Lok Adalat, so far, 32,526 cases have been identified, of which 10,664 are pre-litigation cases, 21,862 are post-litigation cases. “These figures are the highest since 2016,” the press note further states.
The Lok Adalat will be held under the patronage of the Chief Patron, Honorable Justice Mohammad Rafiq, Chief Justice, High Court of Himachal Pradesh and under the able guidance of Honorable Smt. Justice Sabina, Judge, High Court of Himachal Pradesh and Executive Chairperson, Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.
Pre-Lok Adalat sessions were held to provide the parties with opportunities for negotiations in order to reach an amicable settlement. Adalat will be organized with the coordinated efforts of various stakeholders in society. “Regular meetings are held with local bar associations, insurance companies, banks, other financial institutions, etc.,” the press release said. Objectives were given to the judicial officer for an efficient identification of cases.
Questions in brief
The adalat will focus on the settlement of cases involving the Union of India, State Government, Local Authorities, Public Sector Companies etc.
Adalat will also focus on settling marital cases, NI law cases, consumer cases, etc. cases, insurance claims, labor court cases, water/electricity bills and complacent criminal cases,” the press release reads.
“Third Party Investigation”
As instructed by NALSA, a “third-party investigation” of some Lok Adalat shoals at the DLSA/SDLSC level is underway. This will be coordinated with the help of law students/volunteers.
